Charles Bridges Obituary

Mr. Charles Wayne Bridges, age 72, of Stuckey, GA, passed away at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA Saturday, April 01, 2023, after an extended illness. 

Mr. Bridges was born February 2, 1951, in McRae, GA, to the late Marcus DeCostos and Lillian Lucille Moran Bridges.  He was a member of Stuckey Baptist Church and the owner of Bridges Trucking.  He also served as a Board Member on the Wheeler County Board of Education for sixteen years.  Mr. Bridges enjoyed spending time with his family, taking his grandchildren fishing and hunting, but work was where he preferred to be.  His lasting legacy will be his hard work, dedication, and kind spirit. 

Mr. Bridges is survived by his wife of 42 years: Nora Elaine Meeks Bridges; children: Wanda Brown (Randy) of East Dublin, Kay Morgan (Dave) of Marietta, Sue Fowler (Brian) of Stuckey, Dawn Duckels (Woody) of Uvalda, and Marcus Bridges (Rebecca) of Dolphin, VA; grandchildren: Brooke Sharpe, Claire Morgan, Philip Morgan, Danielle Fowler (Austin Wendland), Nathan Fowler (Hannah), Victoria Duckels, Will Duckels, Savannah Duckels, and Peyton Bridges; great-grandchild: Mallory Sharpe; sisters: Clara Ann Bailey of Tampa, FL, Anita Hortman of Warner Robins; brothers: Oscar Bridges (Julia) of Bakersville, CA, Johnny Bridges (Geraldine) of Commerce, and T.M. Bridges (JoAnn) of Hazlehurst; sister-in-law: Katy Sprowson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Bridges.  

Visitation will be Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Towns Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 3, 2023, at Stuckey Baptist Church with Pastor B.L. Horne officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Stuckey Baptist Church: 945 Old Glenwood Rd., Glenwood, GA 30428
