Cosby O. Benton Obituary

A life filled with generosity toward others ended on Thursday, March 13 after enduring a long, debilitating illness. Cosby Otis Benton, born May 27, 1950, to Talmadge and Evelyn Benton in Wheeler County was number nine in their line of 10 Benton children. Preceding Cosby in death were his parents, Talmadge and Evelyn; his brother, Ben Benton (Janet); sisters, Millie Holland (Sprite), Ann Anderson (Ennis), Mary Brooks (Greg), and Enid Clark (Jacob). Remaining siblings are his sister, Margie Baker (Paul) of Woodstock, and brothers, Clarke Benton (Cathy) of Canton, and Ronnie Benton (Cheryl) of Glenwood. Cosby will be missed by everyone who loved him.

His life was full of laughter and service, particularly towards the Vidalia High School Athletic Boosters. One of his proudest days was receiving, as a token of their appreciation, the Big Chief Letter Jacket. Cosby also loved spending time and cooking special meals with his family and supporting the Georgia Bulldogs. He worked in the field of Banking Security and was a successful business owner within that industry for decades. He was a special man who brought hugs and smiles wherever he went.

An announcement will follow in the coming weeks with details for a Memorial service celebrating Cosby‘s life.
