David McNeal Obituary

Mr. David McNeal, age 69, of Alamo died Monday, October 31, 2022, at Meadows Regional Hospital of Vidalia after an extended illness. He was born in Telfair County on August 6, 1953, to the late Ottis F. McNeal and Marjory Hammack McNeal. David grew up in Montgomery County but lived most of his life in Wheeler County. After receiving a Batchelor of Arts degree from Tift College he worked as a Deputy Warden of Security at Dodge County Correctional Institute. There he received several awards such as State Correctional Departments Employee of the Year.

Mr. McNeal was a member of the Wheeler County Chamber of Commerce where he served as president from 2003-2004. He was a member of the Wheeler County Board of Education for twenty years, a member of the Wheeler County Lions Club, and a supporter of the Wheeler County High School Athletic Department where he served many years as the announcer for the Wheeler County football games.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Jennifer Fulford McNeal; one daughter: April Logue (Dennis) of Alamo; one son: Brandon McNeal of Metter; one granddaughter: Brooklyn Kramer of Alamo; and two grandsons: Colson and Parker Logue of Sandy Springs; one brother: Ken McNeal (Jennifer) of Vidalia; two sisters: Janice Mock (Jim) of Alamo and Joyce Allen (David) of Tarrytown; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Ottis F. McNeal, Jr.

The family will receive friends Wednesday night, November 2, 2022, at Towns Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Alamo United Methodist Church with interment following in the Alamo City Cemetery.  Reverends Andy Brownley and Dylan Bowden will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alamo City Cemetery Fund or the Alamo United Methodist Church.
