Dorothy “Dot” Virginia Merritt Hardy, 78, of Alamo, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA. She was born March 14, 1944, to the late Marvin Lawrence and Virginia Lee Parks Merritt. Ms. Hardy was a member of Snowhill Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her dog “Peaches.” She was preceded in death by her husband: Gilbert Hardy; son: Dusty Hardy; and brother: Charles Ford.
Ms. Hardy is survived by her daughters: Wendy Selph (Alan) of Milan and Jodie Monroe (Kevin) of Adrian; grandchildren: Brittney Selph (Hunter), Brooke Clark (Cody), Simon Monroe (Katlyn), and Haley Monroe; great-grandson: Clay Clark; siblings: Carol Hanners, Robert Merritt, and Ruby Carpenter; several nieces, nephews, and loved in-laws; and special friends: Margaret Floyd, Christine Speegle, and D.J. Wilcher.
The family will be receiving friends for visitation Friday, January 27, 2023, at 10:00 am with funeral service beginning at 11:00 am at Snowhill Baptist Church in Alamo with Rev. Randell Tarpley officiating. Interment will follow at Snowhill Community Church Cemetery in Glenwood.
