We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Towns Funeral Home
Florence Nina Thompson passed away on February 19, 2022, in Cape Coral, FL. She was born July 12, 1939, in Downsville, NY 1939 to the late Arnold and Florence Wyman Finkle, who were sharecroppers. She met the love of her life, Thomas J. Thompson, in Downsville while Thomas was on furlough from the Air Force to attend his mother’s funeral. Flo was good friends with his mother prior to ever meeting him. They were married shortly thereafter and started their own family in Downsville. They moved to South Florida in 1971 where Thomas ran heavy equipment, and Flo went to work for Sears and Roebuck where she eventually retired from in 1995.
She truly was an amazing person who enjoyed the simple things in life like tending to her flowers in the spring, the smell after a fresh rain, mowing her grass, and more than anything spending time with friends and family, which she cherished deeply. She truly made the world a better place, and she will be missed dearly.
Flo was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Thompson; and granddaughter: Shyenne Thompson. She is survived by her children: Thomas J Thompson Jr.(Valerie Ferrer), Randy Thompson (Jennifer), Edna McNulty (Pat), and Mary Brown (Phil); grandchildren: James Thompson (Katie), Emilee Thompson, Colton Thompson, Caroline Thompson, Danny McNulty, Shannon Gipson (Cameron), and David Brown (Angie); step-grandchildren: Jon Ferrer, Chris Ferrer, Stephanie Bernard; seven great-grandchildren: five girls and two boys; six step-great-grandchildren: five girls and one boy.
Graveside services for Ms. Thompson will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City, GA.
