Jade Erwin Gillis, 80, of Glenwood, passed away Friday evening, July 30, 2021, at Glenwood Health & Rehab. Mr. Gillis was born September 2, 1940, in Glenwood, GA to the late Walter Haze Gillis and Clyde Day Gillis. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church where he loved to worship and fellowship with his church family. Mr. Gillis was very intentional in making his daily rounds to visit with his closest family and friends and was blessed to have that loving, kindness reciprocated. Carpentry was one of his favorite past times, and he especially enjoyed making furniture.
Mr. Gillis is survived by his sons: Erwin Goodwin of Bradenton, FL and Aaron Goodwin of NYC, NY; sister: Alice Wright of Danville, GA; brothers: Walter Emmit Gillis (Jewell) of Glenwood, GA and Grady Gillis (Agnes) of Macon, GA; grandchildren: Carrie Amanda Goodwin Teverbaugh of Kalamazoo, MI, Samuel Ryan Goodwin of Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Isaiah Aaron Goodwin of Tulsa, OK; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Teverbaugh (MI), Evynne Goodwin (OK), Brianne Hollis Goodwin (OK), and Torrin Goodwin (OK); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister: Quinelle Derriso; and brother: David Gillis.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Gillis at a later date.
