Joan (Horne) Brown Obituary

Joan Horne Brown, age 81, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at Dublinair Health and Rehab in Dublin, Georgia. She was born on November 27, 1944, to the late Troy and Mollie Sue Horne and lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion, kindness, faith, and enduring strength.

Joan was married to the love of her life, the late Russell Dillon Brown, Sr., for 58 years, cherishing the family and life they built together. They owned and operated Oconee Cabinet Corporation for many years, working side by side and building a respected, community-minded business. Joan later worked for the Wheeler County Board of Commissioners and served her community at the Wheeler County Senior Citizens Center, where she was known for her dependability, compassion, and willingness to help others.

A devout woman of God, Joan’s faith guided her throughout her life. She was a member of the Community Church of God, where she lovingly played the piano for many years. She especially loved playing the piano and enjoyed gospel music, sharing her gifts with joy and sincerity. Joan also played for the gospel quartet, Singing Revelations, blessing many with her musical talent and heartfelt expression.

She is survived by her sons, Rusty (Melveta) Brown and Ron (Janet) Brown; her grandchildren, Sandy (Nathan) Wood and Danny (Candace) Brown; and her great-grandchildren, Rylee, Noah, Cady Rae, Nash, and Ryker. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Sue Guinn (Quinton), Randal Horne (Marylyn), and Ralph Horne (Jean), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Mollie Sue Horne; and six siblings, Troy Horne, Jr., Lemmie Horne, Bobby Horne, Bernard Horne, Ruby Towns, and Wauweeze Dennis.

Joan dearly loved her family, her church, her music, and her community. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, warm presence, unwavering faith, and the love she poured into everyone who knew her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
