Judy Mae Achord Rhodes, age 85, of Lyons, GA, entered her eternal home with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was born March 24, 1940, to the late Lonnie and Ethel Achord. Ms. Rhodes taught middle school reading and writing for 32 years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing in the handbell choir at Hazlehurst First Methodist Church, reading, listening to southern gospel music, and watching UGA Bulldog football. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia, GA, for the last several years. She was a devoted and loving wife to Ronald for 52 years and a wonderful mother to Derek, Shelly, and Amanda. One of her greatest joys in life was her grandchildren, and she adored keeping up with their sports and activities. Her family and friends will always remember her infectious smile, her vivacious personality, and her genuine love for others. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald Rhodes; her brother, Dr. James L. Achord; her sister, Pat Achord; and her granddaughter, Eliana White.

Ms. Rhodes is survived by her son, Derek Rhodes (Robyn) of Brunswick; daughters, Shelly Hall (K) of Brunswick, and Amanda White (Kevin) of Lyons; grandchildren, Mary Grace Rhodes, Brett Hall, and Trevor White; and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Ms. Rhodes will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Alamo Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Alamo City Cemetery.
