Lloyd Perry Avery Sr. "L.P." Obituary

Lloyd Perry Avery Sr. "L.P.", age 80, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Community Hospice following an extended illness.

He was born on July 16, 1945, in Alamo, Georgia, to the late James Millard Avery and Coble Christine Couey Avery.

L.P. was employed by Farmers Furniture for more than 30 years, but his true passion was farming.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a devoted member of Stuckey Baptist Church. L.P. was honored as "Conservationist of the Year” by the Oconee Soil and Water Conservation District, a testament to his dedication to caring for the land and his community.

He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including fishing, gardening, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Above all, L.P. treasured time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren, who were the center of his life and his greatest joy.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara G. Avery; his son, Perry Avery and daughter Asa; his daughter, Hollie (Matt) Mobley and their children, Jesslyn, Fisher, and Cullen; and four siblings: Grace Avery, Sue Avery Gentry, Chris Avery (Genia), and Becky Avery Blankenship (Jackie).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald Avery, Dennis Avery, and Fred Avery.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Stuckey Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.

L.P. will be remembered for his strength, resilience, and the love he shared with those around him. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
