Margelet (Gant) Adams Obituary
Margelet Gant Adams, age 101, of Alamo, GA, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at her home after an extended illness. She was born September 10, 1923, in Pahokee, FL, to the late George Albert Gant and Maggie Lucille Todd Gant. Ms. Adams and her late husband, A.M. “Baldy” Adams, moved from Florida to Wheeler County in 1948, where they bought their farm and settled down to raise their family. Through the years, she’s enjoyed caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending church, and listening to gospel music. She loved to visit the beach and go for early morning walks. Ms. Adams will always be remembered by those who knew her for her delicious cooking, gentle and kind spirit, and loving devotion to her family. Four siblings, Betty Sullenger, Gwen Williams, George Gant, and June Weston, also preceded her in death.
Her five children survive Ms. Adams: John Adams (Marie) of Commerce, Eileene Futral (John) of Alamo, Buddy Adams (Phyllis) of Alamo, Martha Ann Fox (Pat) of Fayetteville, and Ginny Duggleby (Rob) of Tallahassee, FL.; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Celeta Hancock of Winter Garden, FL, and Norma Clifton of Apopka, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Ms. Adams will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Alamo First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery.
