Alamo – Marilea Ussery Meguiar, born to Vernon Scarmon and Emmie Hartley Ussery on April 7, 1928, died Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Azalealand Nursing Home, in Savannah, Georgia after a brief illness. She was born in Alamo, Wheeler County, Georgia and lived there until she moved to Savannah at age 90 to reside with her son and daughter-in-law.
Marilea Meguiar was a former Sunday School nursery leader and member of Seaborn Wynn Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church, Alamo, GA. She enjoyed baking cookies and cakes for the yearly Vacation Bible School classes and also for many other occasions for shut-ins and friends. Her most famous cake everyone was sure to love was her special Sour Cream Pound cake.
Marilea Meguiar was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Doris Ussery Omerzu, and her husband Frederick Ramon Meguiar of Alamo, GA. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ramon V. Meguiar, M. D. and Nordy of Savannah, GA; Keith Meguiar and Melanie of Rockledge, Florida, Rev. Steve Meguiar and Cindy of Baxley, GA; and daughter Becky Nobles and Cary of Laurens, SC.
Grandchildren: Terri Cox and David of Birmingham, AL; Jeffrey Meguiar and Amy of Colonial Beach, VA; Katie Powell and Daniel of Savannah, GA; Heather Irby and Charles “Chuck” of Carrollton, GA; April Rafferty and Kevin of Bremen, GA; Mark Meguiar of Baxley, GA; Leah Lee and Christopher of Baxley, GA; Ryan Nobles, M.D. and Kristy of Charleston, SC; and Adam Nobles of Laurens, SC.
Great-Grandchildren: Andrew Cox, Emily Cox, Elly Cox, Ashley Meguiar, Alex Seidensticker, John Seidensticker, Pierce Powell, Cutter Powell, Will Howard, David Irby, Levi Irby, Augustus Morrison, Patrick VonWaldner and Ashalee, Noah VonWaldner and Makayla, Zara Lee, Dylan Nobles and Maddison Nobles.
Great-great grandchildren: Rose VonWaldner, Violet VonWaldner, Asher VonWaldner.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Azalealand Nursing and Rehabilitation, Inc. of Savannah Georgia and Hospice Savannah, Inc. for their kind and compassionate care.
Funeral Service will be a graveside service on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Alamo City Cemetery with Rev. Steve Meguiar officiating and other family members.
Burial: Alamo Memorial Cemetery, Pine Street, Alamo, GA.
Visitation with family will be after the graveside service.
Towns Funeral Home, 115 Lucille Avenue, Alamo, GA will be handling all arrangements.
