Robert Rodgers Obituary

Robert Shelton Rodgers, 58, of Mount Vernon, GA, died March 25, 2022, at his home unexpectedly Friday afternoon.  He was born September 10, 1963, in Williamsburg, KY, to the late Earl Marvin Rodgers and Janice Green. Robbie was a Christian and a member of Uvalda Methodist Church.  For many years he loved serving as their Youth Director and especially enjoyed working with the youth on the Easter plays each year and taking them to Adrian to camp each summer.  He was a very good athlete in school, excelling in football and baseball, playing under the guidance of his father, Coach Earl Rodgers.  Robbie coached his daughter’s t-ball team, softball team, and middle school softball team.  He was an avid sports fan and loved playing his guitar and singing.  Robbie will always be remembered warmly by all those who knew him.

Family survivors include his daughters: Kristen Rodgers and Morgan Rodgers both of Statesboro; sister: Dianna Thompson Stewart of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers: Ryan Rodgers (Jill) of Uvalda, Rusty Rodgers (Eve) of Alamo, and Reid Rodgers (Tamra) of Ailey; step-mother: Linda Martin Rodgers of Uvalda; aunts: Kay Rodgers Childress of Corbin, KY, Judy Benton Browning (Tommy) of Glenwood, and Debbie Sharpe Daniel (Keith) of Stuckey; uncle: Van Rodgers (Tommie) of Harlan, KY; cousins: Vic Benton of Dry Branch, Kim Benton Pinzon of Mount Vernon, and Renae Benton Evans of Alamo; several beloved nieces and nephews; special CNA: Tiffany Charla Mackey of Alamo; and his beloved rescue/service dog, Dr. Pepper, who was named after Coach Pepper Rodgers, former Georgia Tech quarterback and coach.
