Thomas "Gene" Eugene Hart Obituary

Mr. Thomas “Gene” Eugene Hart passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 15, 2024, at the age of 70.

Gene was born on January 6, 1954.  He married the love of his life, Margaret Anne Johnson Hart, in September of 1984.  Their son James Hollis was born a year later.  Gene was always active in his community.  He served as a Trustee of Tulip Street and East End United Methodist Churches, and Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 3.

Gene was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a talented carpenter and restored over 150 old homes as a contractor in Nashville, Tennessee.  He had a passion for playing and listening to music, a love he shared with his wife.  He loved the Tennessee Vols and rarely missed a game.  By far, Gene’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons, who called him “Pa Pa”.

Gene is survived by his wife: Margaret Anne Johnson Hart, son: James Hollis Hart (Caila), grandchildren: Hollis Edward Hart and Thomas Eli Hart, and siblings: Sharon Greer (Guy), Rob Weatherford (Karen), Randy Weatherford, Terry Weatherford (Donna), Alissa Holt (Jim).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James C. Hart, and siblings: Linda Hart and Steve Newman.

Funeral Services will be held at White Springs Baptist Church (1391 White Springs Church Road, Glenwood, GA 30428) on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 11:00 am. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception following the funeral at the Johnson Pond House(1 Pondhouse Rd., Alamo, GA).
