Vanzie Gillis Obituary

Mrs. Vanzie L. Gillis, 82, of Glenwood passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, GA. She was born in Glenwood, GA, on September 18, 1939, to the late Samuel and Florence Brown Nelms. Mrs. Gillis was a member of the Glenwood Church of God and enjoyed playing computer games, working in her yards, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three sons: Kenny (Kit) Gillis of North Carolina, Jody Gillis, and Nate Gillis of Glenwood; one daughter: Robin (Melvin) Morgan of Glenwood; five grandchildren: Kenny Luke (Destiny) Gillis, Mary Kate Gillis, Shane (Carley) Gillis, Shaun Gillis, and Evan Lawrence; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother: Larry Nelms. She was preceded in death by her husband: Luther Gillis; grandson: Alex Lawrence; and ten siblings: Sylvia Warren, Levoy Nelms, Mattie Nowling, Vinia West, Leroy Nelms, Verlin Nelms, Fay Field, Leon Nelms, Roberta Leggett, and Aaron Nelms.

A memorial service for Mrs. Gillis will be held at the Glenwood Church of God, Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 5:00 P.M.
